Biography

Boris Pistorius is a German lawyer and politician currently serving as the Federal Minister of Defence in Germany since 2023. A member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD), he has been a prominent figure in German politics, known for retaining his position across successive Chancellors Olaf Scholz and Friedrich Merz. He is also a member of the 21st Bundestag since the 2025 federal election.

Prior to his federal role, Pistorius held significant positions in state and local government.
