Frank Biermann is a German political scientist and Professor of Global Sustainability Governance at Utrecht University in the Netherlands. His research focuses on global institutions and organizations within the sustainability domain. He is the founder of the Earth System Governance Project, established in 2006, and served as its first chair for ten years.
