Philip Auerswald is an American economist, author, and entrepreneur. He serves as a professor at the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University. His work explores the human origin and endpoint of technology.

Auerswald is the author of *A Phone Is a Cow: How Pioneers of the Mobile Revolution Helped Millions Lift Themselves Out of Poverty*, which details the mobile phone's evolution from a luxury to a global necessity.
