Asli Demirguc-Kunt is a Turkish economist and a non-resident Fellow at the Center for Global Development. She has had a distinguished 33-year career at The World Bank, where her roles included Chief Economist for the Europe and Central Asia Region (2019–Present), Director of Research (2013–2019), Director of Development Policy (2011–2013), and Chief Economist of the Finance and Private Sector Development Network (2010–2013). She joined The World Bank in 1989 through the Young Economist Program.
