Biography

Annette Te Imaima Sykes is a New Zealand activist and lawyer, born around 1961. She is of Ngāti Pikiao and Ngāti Makino descent, from the Te Arawa waka confederated tribes. Sykes is a graduate of the University of Auckland and has been practicing law since 1984.

She is the founder of her own law firm, Annette Sykes & Co. Ltd., where she specializes as a human rights lawyer advocating for the rights of indigenous peoples to promote their own systems of law.
