Anne McElvoy is a British journalist, editor, and broadcaster. She attended St Bede's RC Comprehensive School and later read German and Philosophy at Wadham College, Oxford, where she edited the student newspaper Cherwell. She also spent a year studying East German literature and censorship at the Humboldt University of Berlin. McElvoy began her career in 1988 as a graduate trainee at The Times, frequently reporting on the dissolution of eastern Europe and from Moscow.
