Anne Applebaum is an American journalist and historian, currently serving as a Staff Writer for The Atlantic and a Senior Fellow at the SNF Agora Institute, Johns Hopkins University. She is recognized for her extensive work on the history of Communism and the development of civil society in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2004, she was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction for her book, 'Gulag: A History'.
