Andrew E. Rubin is an American computer programmer, entrepreneur, and venture capitalist. He began his career at Apple from 1989 to 1992 as a manufacturing engineer, where co-workers nicknamed him "Android" due to his interest in robots.
He later joined General Magic in 1992, serving as a lead engineer in the development of the Motorola Envoy. In 1999, Rubin co-founded Danger Inc., where he served as CEO and designed the Hiptop mobile Internet communicator, also known as the T-Mobile Sidekick.
