Andrew Dunlop Roberts (1937–2024) was a distinguished British historian specializing in the history of Africa. He served as an Emeritus Professor of the History of Africa at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), from which he took early retirement in 1998.
Roberts' academic journey included studies at Cambridge University and doctoral research under Jan Vansina at the University of Wisconsin–Madison.
