Andrew Gawthorpe is a specialist in the politics and foreign policy of the United States. He currently serves as a Lecturer in History and International Studies at Leiden University and holds a position as a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Centre in London. At Leiden, he leads the "American foreign policy and liberalism" research group, which is supported by a nearly €1 million grant from the Dutch Research Council.
