Amina J. Mohammed is a Nigerian-British diplomat and politician currently serving as the 5th Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations. In this role, she also chairs the United Nations Sustainable Development Group. Born in Liverpool, England, she is the eldest of five daughters.
Prior to her current appointment, Ms. Mohammed joined the United Nations in 2012 as Special Adviser to former Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon.
