Biography

Alsu Kurmasheva is a journalist and editor at Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL), where she first joined in 1998 as a radio program moderator. She is also a dedicated press freedom advocate and serves as a Board Member for the James W. Foley Legacy Foundation.

Throughout her career, Kurmasheva has focused on cultural and human rights issues, particularly those affecting ethnic minority communities in Tatarstan and Bashkortostan within Russia's Volga-Ural region.
