Alex Nowrasteh serves as the Senior Vice President for Policy at the Cato Institute, where his professional focus is on immigration policy analysis. He was born and raised in Southern California, the son of Iranian-American filmmaker Cyrus Nowrasteh and Betsy Giffen Nowrasteh.

Prior to his current role, Nowrasteh worked as a Policy Analyst at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. He also held a position as an Analyst/Back Office at Fulcrum Securities.
