Alan Krueger was an American economist who held the James Madison Professorship of Political Economy at Princeton University and was a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He served in key economic policy roles under President Barack Obama, first as Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Economic Policy from May 2009 to October 2010, and later as Chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers from November 2011 to August 2013.
