Alan Michael Garber is an American physician and health economist who serves as the 31st president of Harvard University, a position he assumed on August 2, 2024, for a fixed term ending in 2027. He was initially appointed interim president on January 2, 2024, succeeding Claudine Gay. Prior to his presidency, Garber served as provost of Harvard University from September 1, 2011, until March 14, 2024.
