Ahmed Aboul Gheit is an Egyptian politician and diplomat currently serving as the Secretary-General of the Arab League, a position he has held since July 2016 and was reappointed for a second term in March 2021. Prior to this, he served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Egypt from July 2004 to March 2011, a period that concluded with the overthrow of President Hosni Mubarak.
Aboul Gheit began his diplomatic career in 1965 after studying business at Ain Shams University in Cairo.
