Biography

Achim D. Schmillen serves as the World Bank's Lead Economist for Social Policy for the EU Member States. He joined the World Bank in 2013 through the Young Professionals Program.

From 2014 to 2020, he concentrated on social protection and jobs topics across various countries in South, East, and South-East Asia. Subsequently, as Practice Leader for Human Development, he coordinated the World Bank's programs on education, health, nutrition, social protection, and jobs in Indonesia and Timor-Leste.
